Cheap houses encourage Belgians to move to Zeeland
Monday 30 January 2012
Some 600 Belgian families moved over the border to Zeeland last year, encouraged by cheaper houses and mortgage tax breaks, Nos television reported at the weekend.
In 2010, just 300 families moved to the Netherlands, Nos said.
Now local estate agents are to start a media offensive to alert Belgian nationals to the advantages of living in the Netherlands. House prices in Belgium rose 4.5% last year, making Dutch houses a good alternative, particularly for starters, Nos said.
